Civilian Auto | |
Since the 50s of the last century, world car manufacturers have been competing in producing easily operated, multi-functional family sedans. In 1950, the car output of the world first exceeded 10 million units. The models most favored by people are those that are cheap, easy to operate and low in fuel consumption. They include German Volkswagen Beetle, French Ugly Duckling and Citroen 2CV, Japanese Ladybug Subalu 360, etc. In 1972, the cumulative output of Volkswagen Beetle surpassed 15 million units, breaking the world record kept by Model T. These sedans, which are produced in batches in millions, bring pleasure and a new way of life to millions of people and have penned a brilliant chapter in the history of motorcar development. |

With the industrial development and acceleration of urbanization, the motorized public transportation has become poplar today. China’s first tramcar appeared in Tianjin in 1906, and in 1908 Shanghai witnessed its streetcar as well. The operation of streetcars in Beijing was started in 1924. The public transportation in big cities developed by leaps and bounds since the People’s Republic of China was founded in 1949.
